I installed this version of Windows today on my old laptop with 2 GB of RAM. Honestly, it's a pretty good experience. Before, I had Windows 7 running on the Ultimate version, and my laptop was quite slow. Windows 7 Starter is just right for low-end PCs and laptops.
At the end of the installation, you'll be asked to enter an activation key. You can skip this step, but you'll only have three days to do so.
