500 Internal Server Error – Real reasons in PHP projects
If you get a 500 error, PHP errors are hidden.
First step – display errors

error_reporting(E_ALL);

Most common reasons:
.htaccess errors
PHP version mismatch
Function no longer supported (mysql_*)
File permissions (755 / 644)
Check Apache log
