Hackers attack Capital Development Authority Billing System, Demand Bitcoin Ransom



The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has reportedly faced a cyber att@ck targeting its property and water billing system, with h@ckers demanding a Bitcoin r@nsom and thre@tening to leak data on the dark web.

The system outage has disrupted citizens’ ability to process tax and utility payments during the cr!tical June closing period, creating temporary inconvenience for users relying on online services.

According to CDA officials, certain property and conservancy charge data was compromised during the incident. However, authorities confirmed that backup servers remain secure and recovery 0perations are actively underway with support from IT teams and external vendors.

Officials also assured that all online payments made through 1-Link and banking channels remain safe and have not been affected by the breach.

Cybersecur!ty teams are working to restore services at the earliest while investigating the scope and origin of the att@ck. The inc!dent highlights the increasing importance of digital secur!ty for public sector infrastructure.
