Leaked Chinese Database Reveals Government Tracks Foreigners
A leaked Chinese database called the “Dynamic Control Platform for Foreigners” reportedly reveals how authorities track foreigners’ movements and map their entire social networks.
The system allegedly combines facial recognition cameras, digital IDs, online payments, travel records, visa details, and app activity to monitor where people go and whom they meet.
Reports claim that the database contained detailed profiles of journalists, academics, and diplomats, including full travel histories, phone numbers, and relationship-mapping tools.
Former China correspondent Sophia Yan said the system could retrace nearly every step she took in China and identify possible connections between people.
Researchers warned traditional anti-surveillance methods may not work because the system heavily relies on AI camera networks spread across China.
