Insiders from China report that the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is preparing to present at least three more smartphones this year based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 mobile platform. What is known?
In fact, there is no information about the smartphones themselves yet. Xiaomi has previously released several devices based on this processor. Among them: Mi 10S and Redmi K40.
Against the background of how unfortunate the Snapdragon 888 processor turned out to be (overheating and high throttling issues), the Snapdragon 870 now looks like a very interesting stone for a flagship smartphone. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 is made using a 7 nm process technology and is an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 865. It includes four ARM Cortex-A77 cores and an equal number of ARM Cortex-A55 cores. The key and in fact the only difference from the Snapdragon 865 is the high-performance core increased by 100 MHz: it is 3.2 GHz instead of 3.1 GHz. The Adreno 650 GPU was also used in the Snapdragon 865+. This platform is equipped with a Snapdragon X55 5G modem, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 and Quick Charge 4+ are supported.
